TV Squad got a facelift tonight. The site is a bit cleaner, the categories have been tidied up and web 2.0-ified (if you scroll over each category, you get to see a list of subcategories), and most significantly (for me), PVR Wire is featured on the front page.
While TV Squad is a much busier site that appeals to a wider audience, PVR Wire content tended towards the geeky/tech side. As such, when PVR Wire was absorbed into TV Squad, the decision was made not to feature most PVR-related posts on the front page. That meant the only way to find PVR Wire content was to browse to www.tvsquad.com/category/pvr-wire, or to subscribe to the category-specific RSS feed.
With the site redesign, there’s a box on the front page of TV Squad with the latest headlines from the PVR Wire section. Hopefully this will raise the profile of the PVR-related stories again. And while many people come to TV Squad for celebrity gossip and television episode reviews, we’re all there because we love TV in one way or another. So hopefully it will be a good fit.

That really looks fantastic. I think it’s a huge improvement. The site feels much warmer. I am glad you are publishing just the PVRWire feed. I like the rest of TVSquad, but fear too many spoilers to sub.

Haha, I know the feeling. It’s quite tricky WRITING for TV Squad and trying not to look at any 24-related news. I’ve got about 18 episodes (or however many there’ve been so far this season) saved on my PVR, waiting for a marathon viewing session this summer.

Yeah, the redesign is very nice – the best Blogsmith UI yet. I’d like to borrow it for my blog. Can you hook me up? 😉 Also nice to see some of those PVRWire links on the front page.

I like the new look. It really is a shame that they weblogs decided to consolidate PVRWire with TVSquad. I liked have PVRWire by itself….
