As a freelancer, one of the things that scares me about taking even a short vacation is that I won’t have enough work to do when I come back to pay the bills.
But just about a week after coming back from a few days off, I’ve found myself working on a piece about Indian dance troupes, rewriting a story I did in January about health care, and assisting several other radio and podcast producers with projects ranging from hydrogen fuel to food allergies to cancer.
That’s all on top of my regular blogging about PVRs at TV Squad and software at Download Squad.
I should be exhausted, but here’s the thing. It turns out that work makes me happy, at least when I feel like I’m accomplishing something and talking to real people about things that really matter to them.
Now if there were a few more hours in the day maybe I’d figure out how to fit something beside work in there. I guess that’s what vacations are for. And then it all starts over again.
