I can’t remember when I added TechEBlog to my RSS feeds. But I’m starting to get tired of seeing it pop up in my reader.
The site has a great formula for generating tons of traffic. It lists stuff. Cool stuff. It’s got great pictures and videos. One recent post was titled “Top 5 Handheld Gaming Systems of All-Time,” and it showed photos, brief descriptions, and Wikipedia quotes regardin the Sega Game Gear, Atari Lynx, TurboExpress, Nintendo Gameboy, and Milton Bradley Microvision.
That’s it. Not a ton of research is necessary for these type of posts, and so TechEBlog can put out a few a day. And each individual post is kind of a fun distraction. More importantly, it’s a digg magnet. Digg users love lists, technology, and pretty photos.
But after a few days of seeing the same sort of lists, I think I’m over it. I don’t really care about “Cool Retro-Styled Gadgets You Don’t See Everyday” or “Wacky Gadgets for the Office.” I’d much rather spend my time reading actual news. So TechEBlog, I’m unsubscribing you.
