Downloaded firmware upgrade, followed directions, and installation was successful. No latency problem from the little I tried it after firmware upgrade. I assume there are other updates in this firmware, but Marantz does not easily provide a lot of what it does.

I had just bought the PMD 620 based on what I read and had not even used it yet. But then I saw all the latency issues being discussed. I was concerned I made the wrong purchase decision. I am impressed with the unit using the internal mics, but extremely impressed when I used the Rode NTG-2 in terms of clarity. I feel much better about my purchase now.

So far the poorest feature I see is the built-in speaker. Not very clear.... but it at least lets you know you recorded and what it sounds like.

Thanks for the link to the firmware upgrade!

Ugh... attempted update but now...the 620 will not restart. Called Marantz who told me to call a service center (out of Warranty). Cost to replace ROM: $390 :(
